Reconstitution Calculator
Calculate solution concentrations when reconstituting lyophilized research peptides with bacteriostatic water.
Reconstitution Inputs
Enter compound and solvent amounts
Amount of lyophilized compound in the vial (mg)
Volume of bacteriostatic water or other solvent to add (ml)
Calculated Results
Solution concentration after reconstitution
Solution Concentration
5.00 mg/ml
Total Compound in Solution
10.0 mg
in 2.0 ml total volume
Formula
10 mg ÷ 2 ml = 5.00 mg/ml
Common Reconstitution Reference
Standard solvent volumes for common vial sizes
| Vial Size | Solvent (1 ml) | Solvent (2 ml) | Solvent (3 ml) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 mg | 5.00 mg/ml | 2.50 mg/ml | 1.67 mg/ml |
| 10 mg | 10.00 mg/ml | 5.00 mg/ml | 3.33 mg/ml |
| 20 mg | 20.00 mg/ml | 10.00 mg/ml | 6.67 mg/ml |
| 50 mg | 50.00 mg/ml | 25.00 mg/ml | 16.67 mg/ml |
Reconstitution Best Practices
Recommended:
- • Use bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) as solvent
- • Add solvent slowly down the side of the vial
- • Swirl gently to dissolve — never shake
- • Refrigerate reconstituted solution at 2-8°C
- • Use reconstituted solution within 28 days
- • Maintain sterile technique throughout
Avoid:
- • Using plain sterile water (no preservative for multi-use)
- • Directing solvent stream onto lyophilized powder
- • Shaking or agitating vigorously
- • Leaving reconstituted solution at room temperature
- • Freezing reconstituted solutions
- • Using contaminated or expired solvents
